- ELIGIBILITY: Participation in the www.ge-works.com Web site (“Web Site”) is open to all full-time and part-time employees, as well as retirees, of General Electric Company and its subsidiaries (“GE”) who are 21 years or older at the time of participation and who remain employees while the Web Site is active. Temporary employees and contractors and other contingent workers are not eligible to participate. Any decisions by GE as to eligibility of participants are final and binding.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE: To participate, go to the Web Site and click on the Submit Your Story link. Write a few paragraphs about the opportunities or needs that you address by working for GE and the solutions that you worked on to solve these problems. In addition, you are able to add photographs and video clips to your story on the Web Site. Some GE worksites prohibit or restrict recording (including photos and videos); check your business and site-specific recording policies before submitting a story here. Your story and the photographs and videos that you submit to the Web Site are hereinafter referred to as the “Submission”. Your Submission must be original, truthful, unpublished, created solely by you, and must not infringe upon any rights of any third party, including but not limited to copyright, trademark and right of publicity and privacy. If you feature anyone other than yourself in your Submission, please obtain his/her permission first.
TERMS OF SUBMISSION: GE employees’ Submissions are subject to the terms and requirements of The Spirit & The Letter, the GE Employee Intranet Guidelines and The Acceptable Use of GE Information Resources (http://sc.ge.com/*AUGIR), or your business’s substitute policy for The Acceptable Use of GE Information Resources. If your Submission contains material that is inconsistent with these policies, violent, pornographic, obscene, illegal, inappropriate or racially or morally offensive, or does not meet GE’s standards for any reason, as determined by GE in its sole discretion, it may be rejected as ineligible.
Any materials contained in the Submission that were created in the scope of your GE employment will be owned by GE. For all other materials, you hereby grant GE an irrevocable, perpetual and worldwide right and license to use these materials as contained in the Submission in all media, including but without limitation on the Web Site and on social media Web sites, such as Facebook or Twitter, and in advertisements and television commercials. You agree that: (i) GE has the right to alter and/or edit your Submission or any part or element thereof; and (ii) GE and its licensees, successors and assigns have the right to use any and all Submissions, and any and all names, likenesses, voices and images of any kind appear in the Submissions, for all future advertising, promotion and publicity in any manner and in any and all mediums now known or hereafter devised throughout the world in perpetuity without additional compensation, notification or permission.
GE retirees’ Submissions are expected to meet the requirements outlined above and in the referenced policies.
GE’s designated representatives (“Moderators”) will review all Submissions received by the Web Site and will only post those Submissions on the Web Site that are consistent with the purposes and goals of the GE Works initiative and conform to these Terms and Conditions, as determined by the Moderators in their sole discretion. Decisions of the Moderators are final and binding.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY: By participating in the Web Site, you agree to release, indemnify and hold harmless GE, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotions agencies, and each of their respective agents, representatives, officers, directors, shareholders, and employees (collectively, “GE Entities”) from and against any injuries, losses, damages, claims, actions and any liability of any kind resulting from or arising from participation in the Web Site. GE is not responsible for any entry miscommunications, such as technical failures related to computer, telephone, cable, and unavailable network or server connections, related technical failures, or other failures related to hardware, software or virus, or incomplete, late or misdirected entries. Any compromise to the fair and proper conduct of the Web Site related to your behavior, a computer virus, or other technical impairment, or any other factor that may affect the proper fairness, security and administration of the Web Site may result in the termination of the Web Site, or portion thereof or other modification of the Web Site at the sole discretion of GE.
The Web Site is governed by the laws of the State of New York. Any and all legal actions or claims arising in connection with the Web Site must be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and must be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction in the State of New York.
PRIVACY: By participating in the Web Site, you agree that certain personal information will be collected as part of your Submission (including first and last name, GE Single Sign On (SSO), email address, business organizational information and country), and that you may not be eligible to participate in the Web Site without providing this information. Any personal information collected during the course of your Submission will only be used for administering the Web Site and for purposes outlined in these Terms and Conditions.
Posted content will be subject to global, cross-border processing, transfer and storage consistent with GE’s policies and practices (GE Employment Data Protection Standards); posted content will be visible to employees and contractors from across the Company, as well as the general public, and data may be accessed and stored outside of your home country.
The Company may monitor and measure usage of the Web Site.
